For many years, the region had two small trains that connected the coast with the interior. One connected Palamós with Girona, passing through La Bisbal, and the other connected Sant Feliu de Guíxols with Girona, passing through Cassà de la Selva. For many years, more or less a century, these trains were the main means of transport for both people and goods. The train was used above all by the cork industry, as it easily connected the cork exploitation area, the slopes of Les Gavarres and the Ardenya with the seaport of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palamós. Today's route follows the Carrilet route through the Vall d'Aro (Valley of Aro), to return later to Sant Feliu de Guíxols along the slopes of the Ardenya.
